In 2017 I was diagnosed with social anxiety and ADHD. During the summer of 2017, my film school, Ghetto Film School, sent my classmates and me to NYU for a two and a half week residency. After my classmates and I were given the assignment of making a short personal narrative film.
I made Soliloquies for me. For me to understand my then-recent diagnosis of ADHD and anxiety. For me to understand what was once unclear. For me to understand me. I continue to stand by this, but now, I realize that I also made this for the people who, like me, once felt or currently feel isolated and alone, and for those people to understand that they are entitled to feel that way. I hope this film makes that happen.
